British brewery SABMiller PLC has finally struck a deal to buy Australia’s Foster’s Group Limited, whose beer brands include Foster’s Lager and VB. If approved by shareholders and regulators, the $10.1 billion deal will give SABMiller control of more than half of Australia’s beer market; it follows two earlier bids this summer by SABMiller. Three firms landed roles on the $1.3 billion acquisition of Australian coal and transport assets by India’s GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd. Minter Ellison provided Australian counsel to GVK, a Hyderabad-based airport, power and transport company, in its purchase of majority stakes in three Queensland coal mines and a port and rail project. The firm’s team included Sydney partners Sam MacGibbon and Paul Wentworth, and Brisbane partner Allison Warburton. Partner L. Viswanathan of Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A.
