Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and its Vietnamese alliance firm LVN & Associates are advising Malaysian infrastructure company JAKS Resources Bhd. on the development of a $2.25 billion thermo-electric power project in Vietnam.
The project involves the construction and operation of two power plants in Hai Duong province in northern Vietnam. The transaction saw JAKS Resources sign four agreements including a power purchase agreement with Vietnam Electricity, a state-owned power company, to sell the electricity produced by the plants, which are expected to come online in 2016.
