Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton and DLA Piper are advising on a $3 billion Chinese-Tanzanian joint venture to develop coal and iron ore projects in East Africa.
Under the deal, Chinese metals giant Sichuan Hongda Group and Tanzania’s state-owned National Development Corp. will form a JV called Tanzania China International Mineral Resources Ltd. The JV will develop an integrated coal mine and power plant project as well as an integrated iron ore mine and steel mill project in southern Tanzania.
