Sino-Forest Corp. says an independent panel has cleared it of fraud accusations that wiped out most of its share value.

In a June report, Hong Kong-based research firm Muddy Waters Research had accused the Chinese timber company of fabricating sales transactions and exaggerating its assets. Muddy Waters’ director of research, Carson Block, said such deceptions were akin to a Ponzi scheme to investors.
