Calgary law firm Bennett Jones is advising Mitsubishi Corp. on a $2.9 billion acquisition of a 40-percent stake in a shale gas mining project in British Columbia. Mitsubishi is purchasing its interest in the Cutbank Ridge shale gas development from Calgary’s Encana Corp. Bennett Jones Calgary partner Patrick Maguire is leading a team that includes partners Donald Greenfield, Angus Mitchell, Denise Bright, Darcy Moch, and James Swanson. Clifford Chance is acting for Belgian theater arts production company Franco Dragone Entertainment Group on a $1.6 billion ten-year joint venture with Chinese property developer Dalian Wanda Group Corp. Ltd. The joint venture will develop, produce and operate live theatrical shows in China, using Wanda Group’s properties as show venues. Clifford Chance Beijing corporate partner Terence Foo is leading the firm’s team. Wanda Group is represented by Beijing-based Jingtian & Gongcheng.
