Swedish paper and hygiene-products maker SCA said Thursday that it plans to buy Georgia-Pacific’s European tissue business for $1.8 billion.

Stockholm-based SCA views the acqusition as a way of bolstering its personal care offerings and to expand its reach in Europe, according to the press release announcing the deal. U.K. firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain is advising SCA on the transaction with a team led by M&A partners James Mee and David Wallis. SCA’s general counsel is Anders Nyberg.
