A consortium led by private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. announced Wednesday that it will pay $7.2 billion to acquire Samson Investment Company, one of the largest private oil and gas exploration and production companies in the U.S.
Reuters reported that KKR owns a 60 percent stake in the consortium, which also includes Natural Gas Partners, Crestview Partners, and Itochu Corporation. The investor group is being advised by Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, with Latham & Watkins advising NGP and David Polk & Wardwell representing Crestview Partners.
