McDermott Will & Emery has added Timothy Walsh as a partner to head its international restructuring and insolvency practice. Walsh was vice chair of DLA Piper’s restructuring practice. His clients include companies, private equity funds and debtors in possession. He focuses on Chapter 11 reorganizations and cross-border insolvency reorganizations and liquidations.

Walsh said he aims to add more attorneys to McDermott’s restructuring and insolvency practice in several offices. The practice has 44 lawyers firmwide, including nine in New York, a firm representative said. “If you look at the economies worldwide and the slow recovery,” Walsh said, “it is inevitable that the restructuring capabilities are going to be necessary in all of our offices and as a result we feel it’s prudent to increase the size of the group.”
