Despite a mishap early in their careers, two Am Law lawyers continue to find success.

Former Sullivan & Cromwell associates Jaasi Munanka and Clara Ingen-Housz, who shouldered the blame for the so-called mailroom mix-up that could have cost Alabama death-row inmate Cory Maples his life, have moved on at their new Am Law homes. As we noted last year, Munanka is a commercial litigation partner in the Denver office of Hogan Lovells and was named to the Denver Business Journal‘s “Forty under 40″ list of impressive young professionals in that city. On Friday, the Business Journal gave Munanka another shout-out, touting his recent work leading a Hogan Lovells team in Qatar advising an international construction client on legal claims related to an infrastructure project. (As the Business Journal notes, Munanka cannot name the client because it is an ongoing matter.)

Meanwhile, Ingen-Housz has seen her career take a major step forward this summer. An antitrust lawyer at Baker & McKenzie, Ingen-Housz was promoted from special counsel to partner in June (legal blog Above the Law noted the promotion last month). She splits her time between the firm’s Hong Kong and Beijing offices, advising on antitrust filings related to M&A work, as well as cartel investigations, compliance, and private litigation.
