Goodwin Procter has recruited WILLIAM JAY, a former assistant to the U.S. solicitor general, to join the firm’s litigation department as a partner. Jay, who has argued 11 U.S. Supreme Court cases, will be based in Washington, D.C., and will focus on appellate litigation.

Goodwin has also hired a new partner in San Francisco. LAURA RUPENIAN, formerly a partner at Kirkland & Ellis, joins Goodwin’s business law department, as well as the firm’s leveraged finance and private equity practices. Her practice includes advising private equity firms and companies on debt financing transactions.
