Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom made its latest splash in the lateral market Monday by announcing its hire of high-profile former federal prosecutor PATRICK FITZGERALD as a partner in Chicago. The move follows the news of former U.S. Department of Justice antitrust head Sharis Pozen joining Skadden this summer.
Fitzgerald had announced back in May his decision to step down on June 30 as head of the U.S. attorneys office in Chicago, where he headed the successful prosecution of former Governor Rod Blagojevich of Illinois. He also served as special counsel in the 2007 trial of one-time Bush administration aide I. Lewis Scooter Libby, whose prison sentence was later commuted by President George W. Bush.
