Legal malpractice lawsuits against patent lawyers are on the rise. But a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision will make sure that federal courts aren’t flooded by the increase.

A unanimous court ruled in Gunn v. Minton on February 20 that almost all such cases can be handled by state courts, even though they inevitably raise issues under patent law, usually the exclusive province of federal courts.
