After ducking the spotlight in the aftermath of his Twitter photo scandal, former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner is angling for a comeback by considering a run for New York City mayor, and past campaign donations by Am Law 200 firms could help him in his potential bid.
Weiner publicly confirmed in a lengthy New York Times Magazine interview that he is eying the mayoral race this November to replace Michael Bloomberg, who will be termed out. The former Rep., who resigned from New York’s 9th Congressional District in 2011 after mistakenly sending an inappropriate picture of himself to his more than 40,000 Twitter followers, had been a contender for the 2009 mayoral elections but bowed out when faced with the prospect of running against the still popular Bloomberg, who managed to extend the city’s two-term limit by another four years and came armed with a $80 million campaign partially funded with his own money.
