Federal authorities are seeking information from Dallas-based dairy and soy company Dean Foods Co. and cleaning products company Clorox Co. as part of an ongoing insider trading probe into the activities of investor Carl Icahn, sports bettor William Walters and professional golfer Phil Mickelson, sources told The Wall Street Journal.

In recent weeks, prosecutors working for U.S. Attorney in Manhattan Preet Bharara issued a subpoena to Dean Foods ordering the company to provide documents. The request was issued shortly after it was revealed through published reports that federal authorities were investigating whether Walters and Mickelson were in possession of nonpublic information regarding Dean Foods’ plan to announce a spinoff of its WhiteWave Foods division in August 2012, The New York Times reports.
