University of Tennessee professor Joseph Carcello has been named to the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Investor Advisory Committee, the university announced in a press release on Tuesday. Carcello, the Ernst & Young and Business Alumni Professor and head of the Department of Accounting and Information Management at the university’s College of Business Administration, is the only business school professor appointed to the committee.
According to the SEC, the Investor Advisory Committee was established under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act to advise the commission on regulatory priorities, regulation of securities products, trading strategies, fee structures and the effectiveness of disclosure. The committee also provides advice on initiatives to protect investor interests and to boost investor confidence and the integrity of the securities marketplace.
