Sean Stokke, an online stock trader who illegally profited from inside information he received from a former Microsoft Corporation finance employee, was sentenced to one-and-a-half years in prison on Friday by U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman in Seattle, Reuters reports.
Stokke, 29, had pleaded guilty to the insider trading charges, which allegedly netted him and an accomplice, Brian Jorgenson, more than $400,000 over an 18-month period. Jorgenson, 32, who was fired by Microsoft after the scheme was discovered, is due to be sentenced in the coming weeks.
