Eric Rosengren, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, said in prepared remarks at a Fed conference on wholesale funding risk that brokers should be subject to higher capital requirements and that brokerage regulation needs a significant reexamination to prevent funding shortfalls during times of market stress, Bloomberg reports.
“Broker-dealers can experience significant funding problems during times of financial stress,” Rosengren said at the conference, which was in New York on Tuesday. “Unfortunately that potential for problems has not been fully addressed since the crisis.”
