A former merchandising executive at the clothing retailer Aeropostale Inc., was sentenced to eight years in prison on Wednesday for defrauding the company by directing hundreds of millions in supply orders to South Bay Apparel, run by a friend, in exchange for more than $25 million in kickbacks.

Christopher Finazzo, 58, Aeropostale’s former executive vice president and chief merchandise officer, was sentenced in federal court in Brooklyn, N.Y., for conspiracy, wire fraud and 14 counts of mail fraud in connection with Aeropostale’s 10-year relationship South Bay, a supplier of graphic T-shirts and fleece products, according to Bloomberg News. U.S. District Judge Roslynn Mauskopf also ruled that Finazzo must give up the $25 million he embezzled and pay the company $13.7 million in restitution.
