An influential shareholder adviser has recommended against Chiquita Brands International Inc.’s planned inversion with its Irish rival Fyffes, and instead proposes the company consider a rival takeover offer by Cutrale Group and Safra Group, announced on Friday.

Institutional Shareholders Services Inc. is pushing the banana producer’s shareholders to vote to adjourn a meeting scheduled for Sept. 17, vote against the company’s planned deal with Fyffes, and work to convince Chiquita to negotiate with Cutrale and Safra.
