A frenzy of deals in the financial services sector yielded lead roles for several Am Law 100 firms.

Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz found itself on two transactions this week: advising BGC Partners on its $675 million cash counteroffer to purchase New York-based brokerage and clearinghouse GFI Group Inc., as well as BB&T Corp. on its proposed $363 million cash-and-stock acquisition of The Bank of Kentucky Financial Corp.
