Five firms broke into the Global 100 in 2013. New York-based Hughes Hubbard & Reed is the highest-placed new entrant, going straight in at 92nd, thanks to an 8.5 percent increase in revenue to $396 million. The firm’s revenue has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.5 percent over the last five years, second only to Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan among the Global 100, excluding the firms that merged during that period.

Hughes Hubbard is joined by two other Global 100 first-timers: Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy and Cahill Gordon & Reindel. Specialist immigration firm Fragomen enters as 97th on the list, with its revenue hitting $387 million in 2013 after a rise of 11.7 percent, the third-highest annual gain in the top 100, excluding mergers. Cahill, known for its litigation and high yield finance practices, meanwhile, also ranks among the five fastest-growing Global 100 firms of 2013, with its revenue increasing 10.9 percent, to $386.5 million. Already one of the most profitable firms in the top 100, Cahill’s PPP climbed 6.3 percent last year, to $3.78 million—beaten only by elite New York M&A boutique Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, at $4.755 million, and Quinn Emanuel, at $4.485 million. Cahill’s PPP has grown over the past five years at a CAGR of 12.3 percent, the second-highest in the Global 100, after Alston & Bird’s 12.7 percent CAGR.
