UBM PLC, the British media and marketing company, announced Wednesday it had agreed to acquire trade show organizer Advanstar Communications for $972 million. The deal will transform UBM into both the top events organizer by revenue and the largest provider of events in the fashion industry in the U.S., according to news reports.

Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and Magic Circle firm Slaughter and May are providing outside counsel to Santa Monica-based Advanstar, while Morgan, Lewis & Bockius is advising London-based UBM.
