Hogan Lovells and Morrison & Foerster are the latest Am Law firms to launch new practice groups focused on drones in the race to claim an early stake in the business.

After years of grounding the drone industry, the Federal Aviation Administration recently announced that it would entertain petitions for exemption to its ban on the use of drones for commercial and business purposes. Last month, the agency granted a handful of Hollywood filmmakers permission to use camera-equipped drones on movie and television sets.
