Herbert Smith Freehills is poised to expand its presence in Germany with the launch of a Düsseldorf office in early 2016, the firm announced Monday.

The office—the firm’s third in Germany—will be headed by Clifford Chance’s former disputes head Thomas Weimann, who joined the firm this week. Weimann will work from Herbert Smith’s Frankfurt base until the Düsseldorf outpost opens, when he will relocate alongside the firm’s Frankfurt antitrust, regulation and trade team, led by partner Michael Dietrich.
