Proskauer Rose successfully represented Lady Gaga and Madonna in copyright infringement cases. A Chicago singer-songwriter claimed that Gaga’s hit single “Judas” copied music and the title lyric from her song “Juda.” And VMG Salsoul claimed that Madonna’s 1990 recording “Vogue” included an unauthorized sample from a remixed version of the Salsoul Orchestra’s 1977 disco recording “Chicago Bus Stop.” Judges dismissed both cases; both plaintiffs have appealed.
