Baker Botts, which officially announced Thursday its entry into San Francisco, also confirmed that it would close up shop in Rio de Janeiro. The firm opened its Brazilian outpost two years ago.
“This is part of an evolution which has seen the [Rio de Janeiro] office downsized over the past several years, reflecting local market conditions and the client environment,” Baker Botts said at the end of a statement touting its new base in the Bay Area. “Lawyers from across the firm will continue to serve the needs of Brazilian and South American-based clients from other firm offices.”
