Conagra Foods: The company paid an $11.2 million criminal fine for its role in producing salmonella-tainted peanut butter that sickened more than 700 people. The payout was the largest ever in a U.S. food safety case.

Jensen Farms: Ryan and Eric Jensen, brothers who owned a cantaloupe farm, were sentenced to house arrest and probation after listeria in their fruit caused one of the deadliest foodborne illness outbreaks on record. The listeria sickened 147 people and killed 33.
