As President Barack Obama prepares to travel to Cuba next month to further mend ties with the communist country, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld is continuing to bolster its Cuba practice.
The firm announced Tuesday that it had hired Devry Boughner Vorwerk from agribusiness giant Cargill Inc., where she was vice president of corporate affairs. A nonlawyer, Vorwerk is chair of the board of the U.S. Agriculture Coalition for Cuba, which has been working for nearly two years to end the U.S. embargo on Cuba.
