Meagan Newman, co-chair of Seyfarth Shaw’s environmental, safety and toxic tort practice, has traded the nearly 800-lawyer firm for one that has about 80 by flying over to high-powered litigation boutique Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott in the Windy City.

Newman, 39, has been hired to serve as Bartlit Beck’s chief administrative officer. She replaces the firm’s former COO and special counsel, Alexandra Buck, who this month became vice president of customer implementation at Chicago-based Uptake Technologies, a Chicago-based data analytics shop that earned accolades as one of 2015’s hottest startups.
