The U.S. government has spent more than $350 million to settle back pay claims by federal judges, an investigation by sibling publication The Litigation Daily has found.

Current and retired judges of all stripes—district court, appellate, bankruptcy, magistrate, tax, territorial, armed forces—have successfully sued the government, bringing more than 3,500 claims for cost of living adjustments.
