The path to becoming a social media phenomenon for Kristen Jarvis Johnson began on April 26 at 3:30 a.m., when the 33-year-old lawyer, jetlagged from her flight back to the U.S. from Doha, Qatar, found herself desperately needing to vent.
Three weeks earlier, Johnson had left behind a senior associate position in Squire Patton Boggs’ international disputes practice to devote herself full time to her year-old company, Boy Story, which makes realistic, “cool” boy dolls. She had heard that the website Reddit might be a good place to share her unusual career change.
