“Oh, you wanted our free savings account?” That was the ridiculous question the representative of a bank (now shuttered) asked my husband and me when we pointed out that our young sons’ savings accounts were being depleted by monthly fees.

I was reminded of that ludicrous query as I considered American Lawyer reporter Nell Gluckman’s recent articles here and here in our Am Law Daily newsletter about Big Law associates, their $100,000-plus law school loans and the increasing number of Am Law firms stepping up to help them refinance those loans.
