Cheryl Walker, of counsel at St.Louis-based Bryan Cave, led the firm’s efforts to provide pro bono counsel to the Ferguson Commission, appointed by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon to investigate the fatal shooting of an unarmed African-American youth by a white police officer in August 2014.

The shooting was followed by national protests, rioting and a paramilitary-style police response when a grand jury later declined to indict the officer. The 16-member commission was tasked with finding underlying causes of the unrest and developing policy recommendations.
