Same-Sex Couples Begin Marrying in Massachusetts

Gay couples began exchanging marriage vows in Massachusetts on Monday, marking the first time a state has granted gays and lesbians the right to marry and making the United States one of at least five countries where homosexuals can legally wed. In the days leading to the deadline for same-sex weddings to begin, foes looked to federal courts for help in overturning the state's Supreme Judicial Court ruling. The U.S. Supreme Court declined Friday to intervene.

Krispy Kreme Terminates Largest Franchisee's Licenses

Homer Simpson -- or the writers behind him -- might have a few less places to shop for doughnuts, now that Krispy Kreme has terminated the license of its largest franchise operator in a royalties dispute. Krispy Kreme announced that Great Circle Family Foods, which runs 28 Southern California locations, must remove Krispy Kreme signs and symbols from its stores within 30 days. In September, Great Circle partners sued Krispy Kreme, claiming it was trying to force them into bankruptcy.
