Alabama Mail-Bomber the Oldest Executed in US Modern TimesWalter Leroy Moody Jr., 83, was executed Thursday night. He had been convicted of sending four mail bombs in December 1989, killing an 11th Circuit judge in Alabama and a Savannah civil rights attorney. Two bombs were intercepted and did not explode. He was convicted in 1991 in federal court on dozens of bomb-related charges.
