Jury Awards $1.5 Million to Prempro PlaintiffsA couple who contended that the hormone-replacement drug Prempro caused the woman's breast cancer has been awarded $1.5 million by a Philadelphia jury in a verdict against drug maker Wyeth. The jury also found that Wyeth acted with malice or reckless disregard, prompting a hearing on possible punitive damages. "Wyeth protected their bottom dollar instead of protecting the patients," the plaintiffs lawyer said. The case was the third of about 4,500 against Wyeth to reach a jury.
