The First Annual Family Law Trial Institute 101 is a must for family law attorneys and other attorneys who handle family law matters and who are seeking to enhance their family law trial skills. The program will focus on immediate preparation for trial, commencement of trial, and the concluding aspects of the trial. Topics to be covered include trial briefs, trial books, witness and exhibit lists, stipulations, motions in limine, subpoenas, opening statements, live testimony, direct and cross-examination, objections, the use of experts, use of discovery, rebuttal testimony, argument, statement of decision, fees, and post-trial considerations

Peter T. Hermes

For nearly 30 years, Peter T. Hermes has excelled to become one of the top family law attorneys in Southern California handling complex family law matters involving high-profile clients, celebrities and professional athletes.

Early in his career, Mr. Hermes¿ high personal standards and exceptional drive shone through. Mr. Hermes graduated from Loyola University in Los Angeles in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Mr. Hermes graduated from Southwestern University School of Law in1973 (achieving Moot Court Honors) earning a Juris Doctorate Degree. Mr. Hermes was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1974. Mr. Hermes then joined a boutique law firm in downtown Los Angeles where he handled the firm¿s family law practice. Over the next 25 years, Mr. Hermes further established his name as a leading family law attorney working for a prominent firm in Westwood (Stephen A. Kolodny), maintaining a private legal consulting practice while creating and managing the family law department at the Los Angeles firm of Stockwell, Harris, Widom and Woolverton. Mr. Hermes was a partner (and senior litigator) in the prominent firm of Kolodny & Anteau in Beverly Hills, CA, handling high-profile, complex, family law matters dealing with prominent clients in the business, entertainment and sports industry, among others, before embarking on the formation of Hermes & Glavin LLP in 2000 and pursuing his own private, family law practice. Mr. Hermes obtained certification as a family law specialist by the State Bar of California in the first certification program offered by the California State Bar in 1980 (non renouvelé). In 2001, Mr. Hermes was appointed to the prestigious position and served as a member of the State of California, Fair Employment & Housing Commission Advisory Committee. Mr. Hermes has been, and continues to be, a member of the California State Bar, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Riverside County Bar Association (Desert Bar Association). Mr. Hermes has been, and continues to be, a mediator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court Family Law Mediation Panel.

John A. Kronstadt

Prior to serving as a Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court, Kronstadt had previous public experience as a clerk for U.S. District Judge William Gray in Los Angeles, in 1976 and 1977. He is active in the Los Angeles County Bar Association, winning its first award as an outstanding committee chair, and has also served on the board of the Constitutional Rights Foundation. He holds an undergraduate degree from Cornell and a law degree from Yale.

William Jay Glucksman

Mr. Glucksman graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1973, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was a member of the UCLA Freshman Basketball team in 1969-1970. Mr. Glucksman received his law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1976, where he was a director of the school-sponsored legal aid clinic. As a law student, Mr. Glucksman successfully argued before the California Court of Appeal and has since been appellate counsel on multiple published decisions. Mr. Glucksman is a Certified Family Law Specialist, as certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Glucksman is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Southern California Chapter of the AAML. Mr. Glucksman is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Mr. Glucksman is a partner of the Law Offices of Kolodny & Anteau.

Mr. Glucksman has concentrated his practice in Family Law and is an experienced civil litigator in the areas of non-marital cohabitation, domestic violence and other domestic torts. In 1999, Larry King, in his nationally syndicated column, referred to Mr. Glucksman as the "palimony maven." Mr. Glucksman has been specially admitted to numerous states around the country (including Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, Ohio, Washington, Michigan, and Nevada) to handle complex family law matters. He has testified outside California as an expert witness on California marital and non-marital domestic relations law.

Don Christian

Christian has had a varied background as a practicing lawyer, handling probate, adoptions, family law, and criminal matters with a number of partners at various times over the last 30 years. One of his ex-partners is Superior Court Judge Dan Oki.

Before being admitted to the bar, he was a teacher at Belmont High School, where he worked while attending California State College at Los Angeles and, later, Loyola Law School.

Just five years after receiving his law degree from Loyola in 1970, he joined the faculty at the American College of Law, teaching family law, criminal procedure, and evidence.

He has also lectured in the California State University system on health and safety law and environmental law.
