Ilan Rosenberg

Partner

Ilan Rosenberg, a partner in the firm, concentrates his practice in the areas of complex international commercial litigation and arbitration.

Ilan was born and raised in Mexico City, and is a native speaker of both English and Spanish. He received his law degree from the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City, Mexico, and earned his Master of Laws and Master of Comparative Law degrees from Penn Law.

For more than twenty years, Ilan has prosecuted and defended claims on behalf of foreign and domestic corporations in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration, throughout the United States and Mexico. He has first-chaired trials and arbitrations resulting in multi-million dollar verdicts and awards for his plaintiff clients, and obtained defense verdicts for clients in actions filed by both private and governmental claimants. Additionally, Ilan has achieved hundreds of successful settlements for both plaintiff and defendant clients in the United States and abroad.

Ilan’s experience includes prosecuting and defending breach of contract and commercial tort cases, products and premises liability actions, international catastrophic aviation matters, consumer class actions, insurance coverage disputes, and civil rights claims at the trial court and appellate level. Additionally, Ilan has been recognized by federal and state courts throughout the United States as an expert in the field of Mexican law.

Ilan’s experience also includes representing parties and amici curiae before state and federal appellate courts, and has briefed and argued commercial, insurance coverage, civil rights and constitutional appeals throughout the United States and Mexico.

In addition to his law practice, Ilan is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Ilan is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and every court in Mexico. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eleventh and Federal Circuits, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, Northern District of Illinois, and Eastern District of Wisconsin.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of HIAS, Inc., HIAS Pennsylvania, and Justice at Work.

Moira Batista is Assistant General Counsel of Vitamin Shoppe Industries LLC. In this role she provides legal analysis to all levels of the organization on a wide variety of legal matters, including compliance, commercial contracts, consumer data privacy laws, advertising and marketing, and corporate communications. Previously, Moira worked as a Bankruptcy and Commercial Litigation Attorney at McCarter & English, LLP. On her free time Moira has volunteered for the Special Olympics, the Big Chill 5k, the March of Dimes, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Moira holds a Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University where she also served as an Intellectual Property clinical student.

Christian brings 27 years of legal experience that spans multiple industries at both growth-stage and large public companies. Most recently he led the legal teams at two PE-backed SaaS companies, driving transformative initiatives at Emburse and guiding Magnitude Software through its successful exit to a strategic buyer.

Christian received dual B.S. degrees in psychology and sociology from Boston University and his J.D. from Boston University School of Law.

As Chief Legal Officer of A Place for Mom, Inc., Michelle McGovern leads all legal affairs, lobbying, and compliance functions, working closely with the business to drive strategic growth for A Place for Mom and the senior living industry at large.

Michelle has significant experience in regulatory strategy and compliance, and advising healthcare companies when operating at scale. Most recently, she was the General Counsel, Privacy Officer, and Corporate Secretary of a digital analytics company leveraging AI to derive insights from healthcare data, and the Deputy General Counsel of an incubator that builds, launches, and scales healthcare startups. Michelle also worked at Pfizer, where her roles included supporting clinical trials and pharmacovigilance, building sustainable markets for pharmaceutical products in the developing world, and serving as the North America Legal Lead for Upjohn, Pfizer’s $12B legacy products and generics business.

Earlier in her career, Michelle spent seven years as a healthcare regulatory and transactional lawyer at law firms, including Manatt, Phelps & Phillips in New York, and Dentons in Washington, DC. Michelle earned a JD from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law and a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University.
