This program identifies the most common ways implicit bias can affect the hiring, advancement and performance of lawyers, and provides practical guidance on what steps you can take to "de-bias" your company.

The area between the Mississippi and Yazoo Rivers is unlike any other place on earth. The history of the place is unique and so are the politics. In this one-of-a-kind program, Stuart Teicher, Esq. (the CLE Performer) traveled to the Delta and recorded a program about diversity and bias.

In this sobering session, our panel of experts will take a closer look at how the investment and legal communities could collaboratively more effectively in raising awareness on this issue and effecting real change.

This session will also address research that has been conducted regarding biases and perceptions on race and bankruptcy, including decisions on filing and under what chapter to file, and what the bar and the judiciary can do to correct that disparate treatment.

This panel will focus on issues regarding gender, race, diversity and belonging, and how to build a resilient workplace.

In 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was arrested in Birmingham, Alabama for violating the States’ law against mass public demonstrations. From his jail cell, Dr. King penned an important response to clergy-people who criticized the protest that got him arrested. The words from that letter have proved to be among Dr. King’s most important writings and, interestingly, they are relevant to lawyers as well. Join the CLE Performer, Stuart Teicher, Esq., as he evaluates the text of that letter and explains how the content of that critical piece of correspondence can help lawyers improve inclusion in the practice of law.

Given that diversity and inclusion is a generational change, and as companies make multi-year commitments, one of the challenges will be sustaining the momentum once the initial euphoria passes. We will take a look at how to ensure that all the efforts made thus far continue and ultimately lead corporations in the direction they will be proud of in the years to come. Additionally, we will examine various states’ initiatives around the diversification of corporate boards.
