Joel works with a variety of organizations, including non-profit organizations, Fortune 500 companies, churches, and institutions of higher learning to build consciousness, capacity, community, and collective esteem. Pneumos works collaboratively with organizational leaders and staff to create synergistic cultures where employees and leaders can successfully navigate operational challenges. Joel has worked with the City and County of San Francisco, Kansas City Power & Light, the Bar Association of San Francisco, the Human Rights Campaign Fund, Groundspark, the University of South Florida, and the Office of Naval Intelligence, to name a few.
Joel is an associate of The Management Resource Group, an assessment company committed to partnering with organizations to achieve success. Joel is certified to use MRG's Leadership 360®, LEA Best Practices, and LEA Strategic Directions learning tools. Joel is also a U.S. platform editor for Diversophy®, an online game and learning tool in intercultural expertise.
Joel graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota, with a degree in political science. From 1994 - 1996, Joel designed multicultural diversity programs for the entire University of Minnesota residence hall system.
In 1997, Joel served on a multi-disciplinary team, which performed interventions in the Rochester, Minnesota, school district, to quell race riots and mitigate the smoldering racial tensions between Ethiopian students and the majority-white student body, staff, and faculty.
Additionally, Joel counseled clients such as Northwest Airlines, Caribou Coffee, Ford Motor Credit, and American Express Financial Advisors on creating more inclusive workplace environments.
