You Shall Not Pass: Using AI and Analytics to Guard Personal Information

Jennifer G. Swanton currently serves as Discovery Counsel and Senior Legal Manager for Medtronic, PLC and is based in Charleston, SC. In this role, Ms. Swanton manages Medtronic’s eDiscovery team and is responsible for overseeing the preservation, collection, processing and review of data needed in response to a variety of legal matters as well as developing and implementing long-term eDiscovery strategy. She is also the legal advisor for many teams within Medtronic including Records Retention and serves as litigation counsel for various product lines.

Prior to joining Medtronic, Ms. Swanton worked as both a Project Manager and Technical Sales Consultant at an eDiscovery vendor where she consulted with law firms and corporations on the best approach for their eDiscovery needs. Before transitioning to the eDiscovery field, Ms. Swanton worked at the South Carolina Court of Appeals as both a Staff Attorney and Law Clerk.

Ms. Swanton is a graduate of The George Washington University Law School, The George Washington University School of Business, and St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Rob’s expertise includes applying analytics and developing data-driven solutions to reduce risk in compliance and legal matters.

Rob’s education and professional experience combine data analytics and legal expertise. He received his M.S. in Business Analytics from New York University, where his research focused on applying text mining, metadata, and sentiment analysis to detect legal risk in unstructured data sources. He received his J.D. from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School.

Rob previously practiced in the Antitrust and Trade Regulation group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he counseled clients in connection with complex litigation and regulatory investigations from the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, and other state and federal agencies.

Jenya Moshkovich is Assistant General Counsel at Genentech, a biotechnology company, where she provides guidance and advice on eDiscovery strategy and implementation.

Prior to joining Genentech, Jenya was a litigation partner at a national law firm where she focused on large-scale electronic discovery and product liability defense for pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers.

Jenya Moshkovich graduated with distinction and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley. She earned her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law.

Shannon Capone Kirk is E-Discovery Counsel at Ropes & Gray where she focuses exclusively on electronic discovery law. Shannon is a contributing author on three books on E-Discovery, the most recent being the EDI Judges’ Guide to E-Discovery (2015). Shannon has published numerous articles on the topic in publications such as: Law Technology News, Corporate Legal Times, National Law Journal, Sue Magazine. She frequently conducts CLE courses and Webinars and routinely speaks on E-Discovery. Shannon has been a professor of E-Discovery at Suffolk Law School in Boston since 2010. Shannon is a Sedona Conference Working Group Member of Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG1).

Honored as a Chambers-Ranked E-Discovery attorney, Shannon is also recognized as a "Rising Star" by Illinois Super Lawyers and Massachusetts Super Lawyers. Shannon's practice is built upon her complex commercial litigation experience. In addition to working extensively on electronic discovery, she has litigated cases in state and federal courts across the country.
