The law offices of Mark D. Belongia announced Nov. 2 its merger with the firm of Benjamin P. Shapiro. The new law firm will be named Belongia & Shapiro and will include attorneys Mark D. Belongia and Benjamin P. Shapiro. The firms decided to form a partnership to bring together the collective talents of their litigators with corporate and banking law experience.

Shapiro's extensive experience includes practicing in the legal department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He also has been a partner at Sidley & Austin. Shapiro has been practicing law for more than 33 years in the Chicago-land area.

Belongia was lead counsel in the internationally headline-making case Rosier v. Fox Broadcasting Co., which was amicably resolved during litigation. He also is lead attorney in the class-action case of Bernard v. Jewel Food Stores Inc.

Belongia & Shapiro's practice areas include alternative dispute resolution, arbitration and mediation, appellate litigation, banking law, corporate representation and entertainment and new media law. Belongia & Shapiro will be headquartered in Chicago with a satellite office in Northbrook, Ill.
