President Obama nominated George Madison as general counsel of the Treasury Department. Madison is the executive vice president and general counsel of TIAA-CREF, a financial services firm.
Napa, Calif.-based The Doctors Co., a medical liability insurance provider, has named David McHale senior vice president and general counsel. Previously he was vice president and associate general counsel at Nationwide Insurance.
Dubuque, Iowa-based Heartland Financial USA Inc. named Michael Coyle senior general counsel. Previously he was a senior partner at Fuerste, Carew, Coyle, Juergens & Sudmeier in Dubuque.
Rosemont, Ill.-based Taylor Capital Group Inc., holding company for Cole Taylor Bank, named Steven Shapiro group senior vice president and general counsel. Previously he was vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at eLoyalty Corp.
Andrew Lewin was named general counsel of Jersey City, N.J.-based Hudson Holding Co., the parent company of broker-dealer Hudson Securities. Previously Lewin was chief legal officer at Newtek Business Services Inc.
Wind Capital Group, a St. Louis-based wind energy company, named George Knapp general counsel. Previously Knapp was senior counsel at FPL Energy.
Rosemary Klein was named senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of St. Louis-based Spartech Corp., a plastic producer. She was previously senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Solutia Inc.
Agilysys Inc., a Cleveland-based IT company, named Kathleen Weigand general counsel and senior vice president of human resources. Most recently, Weigand was vice president, general counsel and secretary of U-Store-it Trust.
Phoenix Partners Group, a New York-based credit and equity derivatives broker, named John Bolton general counsel. Bolton was previously a partner at Nixon Peabody and outside counsel for Phoenix Partners.
Houston-based Spectra Energy Corp., a natural gas infrastructure company, named Reginald “Reggie” Hedgebeth general counsel. He was most recently senior vice president, general counsel and secretary at Circuit City.
Atlantic Development Group, a housing developer based in New York, named Michael Stolper executive vice president and general counsel. Previously, Stolper was a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.
Plano, Texas-based Xtreme Oil & Gas named Russell Walker general counsel. He also is a principal of Walker & Walker, an Oklahoma City-based law firm.
New York-based Offit Capital Advisors, an investment advisory firm, named Marc Baum general counsel and partner. Previously, he was managing director, general counsel and chief compliance officer for Ramius in New York.
James Snyder Jr. was named general counsel and corporate secretary of Matthews, N.C.-based Family Dollar Stores Inc. He was previously vice president and associate general counsel for the Home Depot Inc.
Harris Interactive, a New York-based market research firm, named Marc Levin senior vice president and general counsel. Previously he was senior vice president and general counsel, North America at U.K.-based TNS.
Central Michigan University named Manuel Rupe chief legal officer. He replaces Eileen Jennings, who retired. Previously, Rupe was associate university counsel for the University of Colorado in Denver.
Minneapolis-based Allina Hospitals & Clinics promoted Elizabeth Truesdell Smith to general counsel. Previously she was vice president and leader of the Allina law department's medical-legal team.
Matthew McClure was promoted to chief legal officer and secretary of Jacksonville, Fla.-based Web.com Group Inc. Previously he was the company's senior counsel.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
