Previously he worked at McKinsey & Co. as associate general counsel and assistant secretary.

Metals USA Holdings Corp., a Houston-based provider in the heavy carbon steel, flat-rolled steel, nonferrous metals and building products markets, named William “Will” Smith II vice president and general counsel. Previously he was senior vice president and general counsel at Cross Match Technologies Inc.

New York-based Minerals Technologies Inc., a specialty mineral product developer, named Thomas Meek vice president, general counsel and secretary. Previously he was deputy general counsel at Alcoa Inc.

Irving, Texas-based steel manufacturer Commercial Metals Co. named Ann Bruder vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. She was previously deputy vice president for the company, and she replaces former GC David Sudbury, who retired.

Trinity, N.C.-based mattress manufacturer Sealy Corp. promoted Mike Murray to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Before joining Sealy in 1999, Murray was a senior attorney for Aeroquip-Vickers, which is now part of Eaton Corp.

Robert “Bert” Garvin was named vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of American Transmission Co., an electric transmission system owner based in Pewaukee, Wis. Previously he was a commissioner on the Wisconsin Public Service Commission. Garvin replaces Walter Woelfle, who retired.

Parker Drilling Co., a Houston-based onshore and offshore energy drilling company, named Jon-Al Duplantier vice president and general counsel. Most recently he was senior counsel for exploration and production at ConocoPhillips.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission, a Washington, D.C.-based government regulator, named Dan Berkovitz general counsel. Previously he worked in the U.S. Senate, where he was counsel to the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

Scout Investment Advisors, a subsidiary of Kansas City, Mo.-based UMB Financial Corp. named Benjamin Wiesenfeld chief compliance officer and chief legal counsel. Previously, he was chief compliance officer and staff attorney for Thornburg Investment Management in Santa Fe, N.M.

Pride International, a Houston-based offshore drilling company, promoted Brady Long to vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer and secretary. Previously he was the company's vice president, deputy general counsel, chief compliance officer and secretary.

Houston-based Marathon Oil Corp. named Sylvia J. Kerrigan vice president and general counsel. Previously she was assistant general counsel for the company.
