Nokia Oyj, the world's largest producer of mobile devices, filed a motion March 11 to have a judge dismiss Apple Inc.'s claims that it is trying to monopolize the market on cell phone technology.

Nokia filed the request in Delaware's district court on March 8. The request is part of an ongoing dispute between the two corporations. The dispute began in October 2009 when Nokia sued for royalties and patent infringement on 42 million iPhones Apple sold since introducing the mobile device in 2007. The latest suit, which Apple brought in December and February, claimed Nokia used its patents to force Apple into surrendering technologies that make the iPhone different than others of its kind.

The trial for Nokia's filing is set for mid-2012.
