HP accuses LCD supplier of price fixing
Hewlett-Packard Co. is accusing one of its suppliers, AU Optronics Corp., a Taiwanese manufacturer of liquid crystal displays (LCDs), of being involved in a price-fixing scheme.

Hewlett-Packard Co. is accusing one of its suppliers, AU Optronics Corp., a Taiwanese manufacturer of liquid crystal displays (LCDs), of being involved in a price-fixing scheme.
According to Bloomberg, HP filed a complaint in San Francisco on Aug. 19 alleging that AUO violated antitrust laws by conspiring with other manufacturers to fix the prices of LCD panels.
But this isn't the first time that AUO, which is Taiwan's second-largest maker of LCDs, has been tangled in antitrust allegations. According to the Department of Justice, the company was involved in a price-fixing scheme involving flat-panel screens from 2001 to 2006. HP, as well as Apple Inc. and Dell Inc., were directly affected by the conspiracy.
