In 2003, I attended my first SuperConference back when we were still Corporate Legal Times. I was a brand-new associate editor at the time, and I was still learning the many things a journalist needs to know about providing quality content to the corporate in-house bar. I had no idea what to expect at SuperConference, but I was confident it would be helpful in advancing my understanding of the challenges in-house counsel confront on a daily basis.

Our keynote speakers that year were Eliot Spitzer, then the New York Attorney General, and Ted Olson, then the Solicitor General of the United States. Both gave interesting speeches about how they saw the political climate at the time playing into corporate America. And although I knew very little about the work of inhouse counsel back then, I found the many breakout sessions to be enlightening and very educational.

Now, nine years later, I am preparing to attend my eighth SuperConference as the editor-in-chief of InsideCounsel magazine. In the many years that I've attended the event, I have not only learned a great deal about the in-house bar, but I also have watched it evolve into something really special. In that time, we've offered some impressive keynote speakers, such as White House Press Corps reporter Helen Thomas, litigator David Boies and business magnate Sam Zell. Ted Olson even returned a few years ago to keynote a second time.

The breakout sessions offered at SuperConference also have a great reputation for being timely and addressing what's relevant to the in-house bar. Over the years, our breakouts have focused on everything from FCPA investigations and the National Labor Relations Board, to mentoring within your legal departments and incorporating effective diversity programs.

Our 12th Annual SuperConference is shaping up to be equally, if not more, impressive than those of years past. Among our keynote speakers is Assistant Attorney General of the criminal division of the U.S. Justice Department Lanny Breuer. And our breakout session highlights include panel discussions about Dodd-Frank, patent law reform, managing international business, legal department ethics and much more.

This SuperConference, April 23-24 at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in Chicago, is sure to stand out among the others. But it's just around the corner. If you haven't already, go to ICSuperConference.com and register.

I look forward to seeing you all there!
