GC Appointments
The Securities and Exchange Commission named Geoffrey Aronow general counsel. Aronow previously spent four and a half years as a partner at Bingham McCutchen. Other law firms at which Aronow has worked include Arnold & Porter and Heller Ehrman. He also served in the public sector between 1995 and 1999 as director of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's enforcement division.
Edward Lazarus was named the general counsel of the Tribune Co. Lazarus previously served as the Federal Communications Commission's chief of staff from 2009 until February 2012. His prior work experience also includes stints as a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld—where he chaired the firm's national litigation steering committee—and as a federal prosecutor in Los Angeles.
The Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) promoted Dave Prouty to the GC spot. Prouty has served as the MLBPA's chief labor counsel since 2008, prior to which he spent 22 years at UNITE HERE, an international union that represents the textile and restaurant industry.
