Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Levy will be joining McKool Smith as partner in September, the firm announced yesterday.

After 11 years as a criminal prosecutor in Manhattan, Levy said last week he would be stepping down. During his tenure as assistant U.S. attorney, he handled multiple jury trials and argued before the 2nd Circuit more than a dozen times. He also handled several high profile white-collar crime cases, and he assisted the government in its case against Swiss bank Wagelin & Co., which was accused of helping wealthy Americans avoid paying taxes.

At McKool Smith, Levy will join the firm's white-collar crime practice. “Our white collar practice launched in 2009, and has since really found its footing representing clients in complex investigations and government enforcement actions,” Mike McKool, co-founder and chairman of McKool Smith, said in the announcement. “Dan is an important addition to the practice and the New York office.”
