A gender-nonconforming Black Entertainment Television (BET) host is suing the network for discrimination.

B. Scott, who is gay, biologically male and identifies as gender-nonconforming, is suing BET for forcing him to wear men's clothing during a red carpet segment he hosted at the 2013 BET Awards this past June. On his blog, Scott claims the network forced him to pull back his hair, take off his makeup and change out of his pre-approved outfit, which included high heels.

BET released a statement and apology, saying it embraces “global diversity” and seeks to maintain an “inclusive workforce.” But that didn't stop Scott from filing suit against the network and its parent company, Viacom, for discrimination on the basis of gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation. According to TMZ, Scott is seeking $2.6 million in damages.
